# Ostchem Group to be forcibly separated

Publication Date: 13.09.2019, 00:01

Monopolism has led to problems.

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine decided to forcibly split the Ostchem Group.

In the course of the investigation, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine found that the Ostchem Group abused its monopoly position in the market of nitrogen fertilizers during 2014-2017.

According to committee’s data, the Ostchem Group practiced a resale of natural gas to its daughter enterprises, thereby leading to an overpricing of its nitrogen fertilizers. In addition, in March-June 2017, the company suspended the production of nitrogen fertilizers, thereby creating problems for Ukrainian farmers.

The forced separation of the Ostchem Group should take place within the next nine months.
