The Kirovo-Chepetsk Chemical Plant (KCKK, part of Uralchem) has summed up the results of 2019: it produced 2.6 million tons of finished products. High production performance is driven by regular repairs and modernization of units. In 2019, the average annual daily output of ammonia units increased by 52 tons per day compared to 2018. This was made possible by the turnaround maintenance of the ammonia unit AM-76, during which the reforming furnace was repaired and the compressor modernized. About 2 billion rubles (approximately $31.5 thousand) were invested in this unit reconstruction in 2019. Nitric acid units demonstrate sustainable annual growth. In 2019, the company produced 1.6 million tons of this product. Having enough amount of the acid allows working at maximum loads to the shops that produce finished products. The ammonium nitrate shop produced 1.2 million tons. Ammonium nitrate is very popular among consumers abroad and in the domestic market, and in 2019 Uralchem once again became the Russian leader in its sales. “2019 was a record year for the complex mineral fertilizer production. For the first time in history, more than 900 thousand tons had been produced – the year before [2018] 904.3 thousand tons of this product were produced,” emphasized Dmitry Trushkov, the CEO of the KCKK Branch of Uralchem company. The company maintains a high level of quality of the most marginal product, calcium nitrate. In addition to agriculture, calcium nitrate is actively used in the oil and construction industries. The volume of calcium nitrate production in 2019 amounted to 135.6 thousand tons. Capital investments in the modernization of KCKK equipment in 2019 amounted to 3.8 billion rubles (almost $60 million).
