The American company Corteva Agriscience and the Israeli AgPlenus (a subsidiary of Evogene) have agreed to collaborate in the development of novel herbicides. Combining their knowledge and experience, Corteva Agriscience and AgPlenus will address the increase of global weed resistance. “Weed resistance presents a serious challenge for today’s farmers,” said Neal Gutterson, senior vice president and chief technology officer, Corteva Agriscience. “It’s time to find new solutions; our collaboration with AgPlenus positions us well to do that.” In accordance with the agreement, Corteva Agriscience will provide its extensive knowledge and work in the field of plant protection product discovery and development, and AgPlenus will apply a reliable computational platform to optimize the properties of herbicides. Corteva Agriscience already holds a license from AgPlenus to commercialize these plant protection products.
