Imported devices drive humans out of the fields.

Scientists of the Kabardino-Balkarian scientific center of the Russian Academy of Science (KBSC RAS) plan to test the octocopter DJI Agras. The device’s purpose is to spray fertilizers and study the condition of the plants. Specialists suppose that such drone is forty times more economical than the manual method of work, said Oksana Zagasezheva, the head of the engineering center of the KBSC RAS.

“The research center, together with the engineering center, has developed the plan of the experiment of the drone flight to spray the trees. Within a month we are going to carry out this plan and conduct the first tests of the drone spraying trees and crops. The test site will be the fields of the Institute of Agriculture and the Agricultural Experiment Station,” she said.

“The drone usage in agriculture is not limited to spraying pesticides. We can equip such devices with high-resolution cameras for automatic monitoring of plants condition. Drone’s high carrying capacity, speed and power make the device ideal for cultivating fields by fertilizers and liquid pesticides,” added Oksana Zagasezheva.

During the spraying, the drone independently regulates the volume of used pesticides, depending on the copter’s speed movement. The drone also remembers the spot where it stopped and continues from this point next time.

We plan to equip the octocopter with a program for intelligent monitor and analysis of fields condition. The drone will be able to show us burned areas or where there are deceased plants, therefore we do not need to get around the entire field anymore.
