A new GOK may appear in the North-West of Russia.

Glavgosexpertiza of Russia (Main Department of State Expertise) has reviewed design documentation and engineering survey results for the first stage of sinking and construction of mine shafts at the Nivensky GOK in the Kaliningrad region. Based on the examination results, Glavgosexpertiza of Russia issued a positive conclusion.

The Nivensky potassium and magnesium salt deposit was discovered in the 1950th. Geophysical surveys in this area in the 1980th confirmed the presence of a layer of salt of over 200 meters thick. However, the next study was delayed for more than twenty years.

Now, the design documentation, which was approved by Glavgosexpertiza of Russia, provides for the first stage of construction of mining shafts for opening and developing the reserves of the Nivensky potassium and magnesium salt deposit.
