The imbalance must be corrected.

The Indian non-profit-making organization Bharat Krishak Samaj has announced the need to raise carbamide prices while reducing the cost of potassium and phosphorus fertilizers, which will not create an additional financial burden for farmers.

“This will stimulate a balanced use of mineral fertilizers in the country,” said Ajay Vir Jhakar, Chairman of Bharat Krishak Samaj.

Carbamide prices are set by the Indian government and haven’t changed over the past several years. Since it’s cheaper than other types of fertilizers, farmers try to apply carbamide as much as possible, which leads to a chemical imbalance in the soil.
