Investments have brought expected benefits.

According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, in 2021, at least 1.45 million tons of vegetables will be grown in winter greenhouses, which is 7.6% more than last year.

As of February 2, 114.3 thousand tons of vegetables have been already produced in greenhouses, which is 15.6% higher the level of 2020 (98.9 thousand tons). Of the total volume, the harvest of cucumbers amounted to 75.3 thousand tons (+6.4%) and tomatoes 37.3 thousand tons (+40.8%).

Investments in greenhouse projects contribute to the growth of vegetable harvest. Since 2016, the area of greenhouse complexes has been expanding by more than a third and amounted to about 2.8 thousand hectares in 2020. The production volume during this time increased by 78%. At the end of last year, the growth of vegetable harvest in winter greenhouses exceeded 18%, with a decline in imports by 15.2% to 558.9 thousand tons.
