The company helps to solve the problem of food safety.

American startup Plenty announced plans to build a vertical farm in Compton (California). The productivity will be equivalent to 700 acres of amenities, at a time when it alone is available in buildings of 8.8 thousands square meters.

The building became the second and largest vertical farm Plenty (first built in San Francisco in 2018).

“Plenty looks at food justice as racial justice, so it’s important to us that the nutritious products we’re producing are available locally in Compton,” Shireen Santosham, Plenty’s head of strategic initiatives, said.

The farm will be equipped with springs for vertical growing, LED lighting and robots for planting, entering and gathering fruit. Plants grow without the use of pesticides and at minimal water consumption. The farm will be built at the end of this year and will supply all 100 grocery stores in California.
