# 95 million tons of grain were harvested in Russia

The yield has significantly dropped.

According to the press-service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, domestic farmers harvested grain and leguminous crops from 35.5 million hectares and received 95.1 million tons of grain. A year ago, these crops were harvested from 35.8 million hectares with a volume of 108 million tons of grain.

According to the available calculations, the yield in 2021 is 29.4 centners per hectare against 32.4 centners a year earlier.

In August, the US Department of Agriculture estimated the harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Russia at 72.5 million tons, which is 15%, or 12.5 million tons below initial estimates. SovEcon and IKAR also reduced their forecasts, explaining it by dry weather and problems with winter crops. As follows from the information of the Federal State Statistics Service, the cultivated area of winter crops turned out to be significantly lower than expected, and from last year’s 16.9 million hectares reduced to 15.6 million hectares.

According to the monitoring results of the SovEcon analytical center, in August, the price of 3rd-grade wheat increased by 900 rubles (about $12.5) to 14.35 thousand rubles (about $200) per ton, and the 4th-grade wheat raised in price by 850 rubles (approximately $11.8) to 14.225 thousand rubles ($196.25) per ton.
