# Kirovo-Chepetsk Chemical Plant improved sales logistics

The ammonium nitrate shipping unit was reconstructed.

The Kirovo-Chepetsk Chemical Plant (KCKK, part of Uralchem) has completed an investment project to reconstruct the unit for shipping finished products in the ammonium nitrate workshop.

The main task is to increase the supply of ammonium nitrate packaged in soft containers of big bag type. The company expects additional profits.

“Construction and installation works began in March this year. As of today, the unit has been installed, the crane is registered in the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia, and the launch has been permitted,” said Andrey Khodyrev, Head of the ammonium nitrate workshop.

The new crane can load wagons with up to six big bags simultaneously. Loading by the crane will be possible on three railway lines, which will reduce the downtime for the rearrangement of rolling stock. Conveyors supplying big bags have been also replaced. Now conveyors will deliver products right under the crane, which eliminates the need for a forklift and reduces fuel costs and the work of the forklift driver.

“We plan to increase the volume of fertilizer shipments in big bags by 50 thousand tons per year. A similar project has already been implemented in the complex mineral fertilizer workshop and has shown an increase in shipping rates,” said Alexander Gusev, Deputy Director for Development at KCKK.
