According to the statement of the Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, in 2021, the grain harvest in Russia may reach 123 million tons. Currently, the fieldwork is in full swing, however, weather conditions caused many challenges to Russian farmers. “Throughout the entire harvesting campaign, there is a struggle for literally every ton of the crop. As soon as the weather is favorable, fieldwork is promptly resumed. Thus, 119 million tons of grain have been harvested to date, of which 77.8 million tons are wheat. By the end of the year, we expect to reach a volume of about 123 million tons of net weight. This is higher than the average values of previous years,” said Dmitry Patrushev. The harvest of buckwheat increased by 77 thousand tons to 928 thousand tons. The yield of rapeseed increased as well and reached 2.9 million tons (more than in the entire 2020). By the end of 2021, the harvest of oilseeds, vegetables and sugar beet is expected at the level of 22.8 million tons, 7 million tons and 39.6 million tons, respectively. Dmitry Patrushev says that the already obtained harvest is enough to satisfy the domestic market and export potential.
