Science will generate income.

The German chemical giant Bayer intends to expand its research center in San Nicolas (Spain) to accelerate the breeding process for new crop varieties (cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, and melons).

“We use the advanced breeding practices, accelerating time-to-market, which help our customers to respond to the current and new challenges,” said Inci Dannenberg Head of Vegetable Seed at Bayer.

The expansion of the research center will require investments of €5.1 million (approximately $5.77 million). The implementation of the project will reduce the time of the breeding of new varieties to four years based on the technology of doubled haploids.
