The machines will collect the necessary data.

Murdoch University (Australia) is developing robots to monitor crops in real-time.

“The robots will be equipped with cameras and sensors and will work day and night, recording information about the physiological characteristics of crops and growing conditions,” said Hai Wang, a scientist of the Department of Electrical Engineering.

According to the statement of Hai Wang, the robots will be able to autonomously navigate through the greenhouse complex using an AI-based navigation system. Cameras will continuously take pictures of cultivated vegetables after a certain period and sensors will measure humidity and temperature. They will be able to collect data on how plants grow, the content of chlorophyll in them, the flowering time, and the rate of carbon dioxide entering the leaves.

Hai Wang believes that these robots can also be used to monitor livestock in pastures and other areas of agriculture.
