The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has decreased the annual registration fee for pesticides. In 2022, it will amount to $3,660 thousand per product, which is 8.5% less than in 2021. US law allows EPA to collect an average of $31 million in pesticide registration fees between 2019 and 2023. During the first three years, the organization received $92.6 million and plans to collect $62.4 million more in the remaining time. Taking into account that over 500 new pesticides registered in the past couple of years, EPA has cut fees to avoid a surplus of revenues in 2022. In total, this year, the department is expected to collect $31.2 million.
