European Union has introduced a new document regulating organic farming. The law aims to ensure fair competition among farmers while preventing fraud and maintaining consumer confidence in organic products. Its feature is the harmonization of rules covering organic farming in the European Union. It will also apply to farmers, exporting their organic products to the EU. The regulation simplifies the activities of farmers, allowing them to use group certification, thereby reducing the costs. In March 2021, the European Commission presented a plan for the development of organic farming in the European Union. This plan is a part of the green deal, which says that 25% of agricultural land should be allocated for organic farming by 2030. “The adopted regulation is a very important tool that will allow small farmers to engage in organic farming,” said Janusz Wojciechowski, Commissioner for Agriculture of the European Union.
