The region is preparing for spring sowing.

The Minister of Agriculture of the Kaluga region, Leonid Gromov, held a weekly meeting. One of the topics was the preparations for spring field works.

According to the statement of the Minister, in 2022, sown areas for spring crops will be increased by 17% to 155.7 thousand hectares. At least 60 thousand hectares will be allocated for grain crops and 2.5 thousand hectares for potatoes and other vegetables.

As of today, 14 thousand tons of seeds have been prepared (100% of the need) and their quality is now being examined.

The meeting also discussed the purchase of mineral fertilizers. The annual demand for them is almost 44 thousand tons, including about 28 thousand tons for spring field works. According to the plan approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, from January to May, 28.2 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers will be shipped to agricultural producers of the Kaluga region at fixed prices.
