The producers are suspected to hold their products for better days.

Authorities of the Kaluga region have prepared an appeal to the government of Russia to prolong the ban on the export of certain types of mineral fertilizers.

“Farmers of our region are facing issues with the acquisition of these mineral fertilizers. We have a reason to suppose that fertilizer producers are holding their products for more profitable sales abroad after the ban is expired,” said Gennady Novoseltsev, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Kaluga region. “Fertilizer prices in Europe have risen more than in the domestic Russian market. The lifting of the ban on April 1 will lead to higher fertilizer prices in Russia and their shortage.”

Therefore, authorities of the Kaluga region appealed to the government to extend the ban validity until June 1 of this year.
