# Belarus will limit the export of potassium fertilizers

The government protects domestic producers.

Belarus will limit the export of potassium fertilizers since April 6 this year. The export licenses will be issued by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus based on the government decision. The first permissions will be issued to Belaruskali and Belarusian Potash Company.

To receive a license, a company will have to send a letter to Belaruskali which reveals the planned volume of supplies of potassium fertilizers and the country of destination. The letter should also contain a copy of a document that confirms future pre-payment or a bank guarantee of at least 50% of the total cost of ordered potassium fertilizers, as well as agreements with logistics operators regarding their transportation.

After which, within three days, the supervisory board of Belaruskali will consider the application and, if agreed, send them to the State Property Committee of Belarus, which will prepare a draft decision and submit it to the government.

“Obviously, the Belarusian authorities are trying to protect Belaruskali from the sanctions imposed against it by the United States and the European Union. By the exports limitation, the government of Belarus intends to force importers of potassium chloride to cooperate with Belaruskali,” commented the information and analytical service of Fertilizer Daily.
