The metallurgy industry and agriculture are closely related.

Makiyivka Coke Plant (Makiyivkoks, Donetsk People’s Republic) shipped a batch of ammonium sulfate to the Russian market.

“Ammonium sulfate has a good export potential since it’s demanded among farmers as a fertilizer applied to the soil. Currently, we are shipping a consignment to the Rostov region,” said Igor Zhivotov, head of the coking chemical product recovery shop of Makiyivkoks.

Makiyivkoks is one of the largest enterprises in the Donetsk People’s Republic with a capacity of up to 0.7 million tons of coke per year.

“Even though coke plants have traditionally been part of the metallurgy industry, they can work for the benefit of agriculture. While obtaining coke, ammonia is produced as a by-product, which can then be processed into ammonium sulfate and shipped to farmers,” commented the information and analytical service of Fertilizer Daily.
