# Sound Agriculture will improve nitrogen fertilizers usage

Publication Date: 06.06.2022, 18:00

The use of nitrogen fertilizers can be reduced.

The American Sound Agriculture has launched a pilot program to reduce the use of nitrogen fertilizers on 10.1 thousand hectares of agricultural land in different regions of the United States.

Nitrogen fertilizers are important for the development of various crops, but they are often used in excess, and 30-50% of the nitrogen they contain is not consumed by plants at all. As a result, it’s washed out by rains, which leads to the pollution of rivers and reservoirs.

Therefore, Sound Agriculture has developed an agent to activate the reproduction of beneficial microorganisms in the soil to increase the supply of nitrogen to the roots of crops and increase their yield. At the same time, the need for nitrogen fertilizers in the fields is reduced.

It’s currently used under corn and soybeans and is being tested in wheat, rice and cotton.
