It should change soon.

As the Federal State Statistics Service reports, during the first half of 2022, the production of mineral fertilizers (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) in Russia decreased by 7.6% to 12.3 million tons.

The production of ammonia also sharply declined by 17.6% to 8.8 million tons, while sulfur production, on the contrary, increased by 4.2% to 3.1 million tons (both of which are used in the manufacture of various types of mineral fertilizers).

“The decrease in the production of mineral fertilizers in Russia is due to the action of Western sanctions against our country, which made it difficult to export them to the world market and at the same time interrupted the import of some parts for equipment of chemical plants,” commented the information and analytical service of Fertilizer Daily. “Nevertheless, the situation should improve in the coming months: supplies of mineral fertilizers abroad are being restored, while the import of components is gradually redirected from Europe and the USA to China.”
