Areas for growing rice in Crimea in 2023 will be increased from 700 to 5 thousand hectares, said Alime Zaredinova, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Crimean region. “This year, about 700 hectares were sown. The first harvest will mainly be used as seed material so that farmers can use it already in the next year’s sowing campaign. Next year, we plan to allocate 5 thousand hectares under this crop,” she said. According to the statement of Alime Zaredinova, farmers, who previously cultivated rice, are ready to return to the areas that they occupied before the Ukrainian authorities limited the supply of water to the North Crimean Canal. This year, seven farms sowed rice. “And now we have good prospects for a decent harvest,” said Alime Zaredinova.
