# Russian Railways tariffs were criticized

They need to be prioritized.

The government needs to take control over the Russian Railways (RZD) tariffs to cope with a large indexation of tariffs, said the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov.

“We’re discussing the investment program of Russian Railways. The company has a huge appetite for this issue. The task is to sort out priorities because we cannot provide all the necessary financing by increasing tariffs — it will be unbearable for our economy. Therefore, there is such spider work in all directions,” said Maxim Reshetnikov.

This year, Russian producers of mineral fertilizers faced a sharp rise in the RZD tariffs for the transportation of their goods: in January, they were increased by 6.8%, and in July – by 11%.

“Such a tariff policy of Russian Railways makes it difficult to plan the transportation of mineral fertilizers by rail effectively,” commented the information and analytical service of Fertilizer Daily.
