There are both good and bad news.

During the January-August period of this year, the production of mineral fertilizers in Russia decreased by 9.4% to 16 million tons, the Federal State Statistics Service reports.

Of their total volume, the output of potassium fertilizers fell by 27% to 5.2 million tons, while the production of phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizers increased by 1% to 2.9 million tons and by 3.7% to 7.8 million tons, respectively.

“The fall in the production of potassium fertilizers may be due to a decrease in their export from Russia due to a shortage of ships or fears of ship owners about falling under Western sanctions,” commented the information and analytical service of Fertilizer Daily.
