# Russian farmers increased the usage of mineral fertilizers

Publication Date: 17.10.2022, 16:00

The measures taken have been of great help.

Russian farmers will reach the target scientifically based indicator of mineral fertilizer application in the amount of 80 kg per 1 hectare by 2024-2025, said Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev.

“We are aiming for a science-based target of 80 kg. The Ministry of Agriculture doesn’t abandon these plans, and I believe that by 2024-2025 we will be able to achieve this,” said Dmitry Patrushev.

According to his statement, in 2019, the average fertilizer application was 46 kg per 1 hectare, in 2022 this figure could rise to 61 kg.

The volume of mineral fertilizers is growing due to an increase in purchases: at the moment, farmers have acquired almost 300 thousand tons more than a year earlier.

Among the measures envisaged to provide the domestic market with mineral fertilizers are export quotas, price fixing, as well as a procurement plan approved jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and regional authorities.

“As a result, our farmers are provided with mineral fertilizers in the required volume and at affordable prices,” Dmitry Patrushev noted.
