The shipments were stalled.

Of 280 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers that were on board Russian ships and arrested by the authorities of several European Union countries this summer, up to 80% remains in Latvia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Vershinin said.

“I would like to emphasize that up to 80% of these 280 thousand tons are blocked in Latvia. And the local authorities still do not allow resuming the shipment process,” said Sergey Vershinin.

Sergey Vershinin noted that ships with mineral fertilizers were arrested in the ports of the European Union, as their producers fell under the sanctions of Western countries. In this regard, the Russian government decided to ship them free of charge to needy countries, mainly in Africa.
