Publication Date: 24.11.2022, 16:00

Mutually beneficial cooperation has become even more reliable.

The German chemical giant Bayer has acquired Targenomix, a biotech startup that uses computational biology to develop new crop protection products.

“Tools developed by Targenomix to identify safe and stable compounds will help in the implementation of our strategy to produce safe crop protection products and accelerate the development of new products demanded by farmers,” said Robert Reiter, Head of Research and Development at Bayer.

Bayer and Targenomix have been collaborating since 2014 when they jointly developed a post-emergent herbicide for large-area weed control. The drug has proven its efficiency in the laboratory and is expected to be commercially available by the end of this decade.
