Climate strategy in the process of implementation.

Apatit (part of PhosAgro) continues to increase the use of green electricity for the production of mineral fertilizers.

In 2022, the Kirovsk branch of Apatit increased the amount of “green” electricity used in production to 300 million kWh. Thus, 17.8% of its products last year were produced using “green” electricity generated at TGC-1 hydroelectric power plants.

“Apatit, as well as the PhosAgro group as a whole, is consistently working to reduce the carbon footprint of its products. This also applies to the requirements for suppliers of goods and services we use in production. Electricity is one of the most significant components of this system. And we are proud that there is a positive trend in this direction,” commented the Director of the Kirovsk Branch of Apatit, Andrey Abrashitov.

Increasing the use of “green” electricity is part of PhosAgro’s climate strategy, under which only for greenhouse gases by 2028 it’s planned to reduce emissions by 14% from the baseline in 2018. At the same time, the specific emission of greenhouse gases of the first scope has already been reduced by 16% from 2018 to 2021, while the gross emission over this period has decreased by almost 4% with a continuous increase in production.
