# Kropz sold its first batch of phosphate rock concentrate

Publication Date: 08.02.2023, 16:00

The mining has finally begun.

The South African company Kropz announced the sale of the first batch of phosphate rock concentrate from the Elandsfontein phosphorite deposit.

According to its plans, the sale of phosphate rock concentrate should be at least 1 million tons per year.

Earlier in December last year, Kropz said it was selling 33 thousand tons of concentrate produced during the commissioning of a mining operation to below-market prices.

In the summer of 2018, Kropz entered into an agreement for the supply of phosphate rock concentrate with Foskor, the only vertically integrated producer of phosphoric acid and fertilizers in South Africa. As follows from its terms, Foskor’s purchases should account for about a third of Elandsfontein’s phosphate rock production. Their shipments for export were supposed to be carried out through the ports of Saldanha and Cape Town.

“After numerous challenges during the implementation of the Elandsfontein project, we are pleased to announce the shipment of a pilot batch of phosphate rock concentrate,” said Louis Loubser, CEO of Kropz.
