# Kemerovo Azot paid a large ecology fine

Over $582.5 thousand for soil pollution.

The Federal Natural Resources Agency of Russia (Rosprirodnadzor) reported that Kemerovo Azot (part of Azot Group) paid a multimillion fine for soil contamination. The enterprise allowed the accumulation of hazardous waste in the production of mineral fertilizers, namely magnesia additives.

According to experts, the lack of a hard coating at the location of the hazardous substance led to soil contamination. The violation was discovered during an inspection by Rosprirodnadzor.

Sample analysis showed that the waste belongs to the IV hazard class. The damage caused to nature in the amount of more than 45 million rubles (approximately $582.5 thousand) was paid voluntarily.
