# USAID and South Korea Send Support to Ukrainian Farmers

Publication Date: 02.10.2023, 21:00

Fertilizer shipments will be sent to support farmers.

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) announced on September 29 that it is partnering with South Korea to render support to Ukraine’s agricultural sector.

USAID said that South Korea’s foreign ministry has donated $5mn worth of fertilizer to Ukrainian farmers through the Agriculture Resilience Initiative-Ukraine (AGRI-Ukraine). The agency added that Seoul’s contribution complements the agricultural supplies that the US has already sent.

USAID said that South Korea’s donation is intended to demonstrate the East Asian nation’s solidarity with Ukraine and to reaffirm both countries’ commitment to providing material assistance to Kyiv. The agency welcomed Seoul’s involvement in AGRI-Ukraine and said it is looking forward to further co-operation.

USAID also noted that its administrator, Samantha Power, visited the Ukrainian city of Odesa in July to announce an additional $250mn in support of AGRI-Ukraine. The extra funding brought USAID’s total contribution to the initiative to $350 million. The programme has also received $250 million from other sources.
