# Russia exported at least $6.6bn worth of fertilizers in first half of 2023

Brazil, India, and the US were the top importers of Russian fertilizers in the first six months of this year.

Russia sold at least $6.6bn worth of fertilizers on the global market in the first half of 2023, RIA Novosti reported on October 1, citing data from the United Nations’ Comtrade database.

Brazil, India, and the US were the three largest importers of Russian fertilizers during that period, spending $1.9bn, $1.3bn, and $890mn, respectively.

China, for its part, purchased $632mn worth of Russian fertilizers, while Mexico spent $429mn, Turkey $170mn, and Germany a record $151mn.

RIA also noted that European countries such as Bulgaria, Spain, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Italy are continuing to buy Russian fertilizers.

In total, it said, 57 countries purchased fertilizers from Russia; a number of Asian and African states, however, did not disclose their import volumes.

According to Russia’s Federal Customs Service, last year the country sold almost $19.3bn worth of fertilizers on the global market, which represented a 50% increase on the total for 2021.
