The China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) has begun constructing what it says will be the country’s largest green hydrogen plant. The facility, which is being built in Songyuan, Jilin Province, will harness wind and solar power to generate 45,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually. The hydrogen will then be converted into 200,000 tonnes of green ammonia and 20,000 tonnes of green methanol per annum, Hydrogen Insight reported, citing Chinese media reports. The state-owned CEEC has invested $4.06bn in the 640MW plant. It has not given any indication as to when the project will be completed.
