The Polish chemical producer ANWIL has announced that it is completing the construction of a third nitrogen fertilizer production line. It said in an October 3 news release that the project will increase its fertilizer production capacity by 50%, to 1,461 tonnes per year, which, in turn, will reduce the country’s reliance on fertilizer imports and thereby enhance food security. ANWIL stated that the new production line in Włocławek, which represents its single largest investment to date, will use state-of-the-art EnviNOx technology to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 99% and prevent the escape of approximately 4,200 tonnes of nitrogen oxides. The company added that this environmental focus is in keeping with the strategic decarbonization plans of its parent company, ORLEN Group. ANWIL said that the project will enable it to add four new high-quality fertilizer products to its portfolio: coarse-grained saltpeter, ammonium nitro sulfate, nitro-chalk with sulfur, and nitro-chalk with magnesium with improved granule parameters. It noted that, due to their positive effect on the efficiency of field work, these fertilizers are becoming increasingly popular among farmers.
