# Novomoskovsk Azot receives food safety certification for liquid carbon dioxide production

The certification demonstrates that its food-safety management system complies with international standards.

Novomoskovsk Azot says that its food-safety management system has been found to comply with the ISO 22000:2018 international standard.

The certification will allow it to bring its liquid carbon dioxide – which is used in fizzy drinks and food preservation – to market.

Novomoskovsk Azot, which is Russia’s second-largest maker of nitrogen fertilizers, last year opened a plant capable of producing four tonnes of liquefied carbon dioxide per hour, with a purity of 99.99%.

The facility enables the company to produce up to 32,000 tonnes of finished product per year, while attenuating the environmental impact of its ammonia production.
