Atome Energy announced on Monday that it is making progress with its planned 145MW green ammonia production facility near the city of Villeta in Paraguay. The UK-based hydrogen, ammonia, and fertilizer company said that it has almost completed its FEED study, and that advanced negotiations with contractors are under way. Atome revealed, moreover, that Paraguay’s Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development has granted it a mandatory environmental license, which it said it needed to obtain in order to begin preparing and clearing the site. The company said that it expects to receive tax-free status for the project, which it noted will bring significant financial benefits to funders. Atome also indicated that it has plans to build a facility over twice the size of the Villeta factory; it said that, following discussions with the Paraguayan state energy provider ANDE, it is in the process of identifying an appropriate site for the Yguazu project.
