EuroChem-BMU said it produced a first batch of mineral NPS fertilizer for sale on the Russian market.

EuroChem-BMU says it has carried out pilot tests on the production of mineral NPS fertilizers that contain elemental sulfur.

The enterprise, which is located in southern Russia, said that its first batch weighed 4,000 tonnes and will be sold on the domestic market.

Alongside sulfur, which is a critical nutrient for plant growth, NPS fertilizers contain nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.

Elemental sulfur gradually oxidizes to become sulfate sulfur, which is the only form of sulfur that crops can use.

Owing to its crucial role in the balanced growth and development of plants, as well as to the increasing incidence of sulfur deficits in soil, it has been attracting more attention in recent years.
