# Proman and thyssenkrupp Uhde to collaborate on ammonia plant

Proman and thyssenkrupp Uhde said that their new facility in Mexico will be capable of producing 2,200 tonnes of ammonia per day

Switzerland’s Proman and the German engineering firm thyssenkrupp Uhde have announced that they will work together to construct a large-scale ammonia plant in Mexico’s Sinaloa state.

The companies said that the state-of-the-art facility in Topolobampo will be capable of producing 2,200 tonnes of ammonia per day, and has been designed to minimize carbon dioxide emissions.

Thyssenkrupp Uhde added that the project will be financed through the German state-owned investment and development bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KFW).

Thyssenkrupp Uhde will provide engineering and procurement services, in addition to its uhde ammonia technology license and proprietary equipment.

The firms said that the realization of the project, which has been developed over several years, will cement each of their positions as an industry leader.

Proman’s CEO, David Cassidy, commented that ‘Proman is excited to be expanding into Mexico. We are already a significant producer of ammonia, and this new plant will increase our annual production capacity to 2.8 million tonnes at a time when fertilizers have a critical role to play in the agricultural sector in Mexico and for global food security.’
