The Nairobi-based company's data aggregation platform helps clients in agricultural sector to keep track of soil and crop health.

Amini, a Kenya-based climate-tech startup that provides environmental data for Africa, has secured $4mn in seed funding, TechCrunch reported on Thursday.

The news site said the round was led by Salesforce Ventures and the Female Founders Fund, with participation from the climate-tech VC Satgana, as well as Pale Blue Dot and Superorganism.

According to TechCrunch, Amini uses data from satellite images, in conjunction with remote-sensor information, to help its clients in the agricultural sector to monitor soil and crop health, water use, fertilizer use, and biodiversity.

The startup says that its data aggregation platform, which utilizes artificial intelligence, makes environmental data readily accessible, thereby aiding farmers’ decision making, as well as supporting supply chain transparency and promoting economic inclusion.
