Belarus’s state-run news agency reported on Friday that the country’s prime minister has said that Minsk’s fertilizer sales to Vietnam have been helping to improve the South East Asian nation’s food security. BelTA quoted Roman Golovchenko as saying during a meeting with Vietnam’s prime minister that ‘Belarus is contributing to the strengthening of Vietnam’s food security by supplying potash and organic fertilizers. At the beginning of November this year, an agreement was reached to set up an enterprise that will produce and distribute organic fertilizers in Vietnam.’ The Belarusian premier added that his country is also working to boost food exports to Vietnam, saying that between January and September sales exceeded $7mn. Golovchenko indicated that he would like to see this increase, with meat supplies looking particularly promising.
