# Russia to continue supply of agricultural aid to Africa – deputy PM

Viktoria Abramchenko told RIA Novosti that Russia will continue to provide supply free grain and fertilizers to African countries.

Russia’s deputy prime minister, Viktoria Abramchenko, has said that Russia will continue to supply free grain and fertilizers to African countries.

Abramchenko told the RIA Novosti news agency that ‘Russia remains a global breadbasket and a reliable supplier. The first humanitarian aid shipments of grains and fertilizers have already gone to African countries, and they will continue.’

To date, Russia has made four fertilizer donations to countries on the continent. On Tuesday, a ship carrying 23,000 tonnes of Russian fertilizer arrived in Mozambique, with the cargo set to be transported by land to Zimbabwe.

Abramchenko also reiterated Russia’s claim that Western sanctions, by indirectly impeding the movement of fertilizers, have exacerbated world hunger.
