# Algeria donates 16,000 tonnes of urea to Kenya

Publication Date: 15.01.2024, 15:00

Algeria's fertilizer donation to Kenya will help to support the East African country's farmers.

Kenyan media reported on Sunday that the country has received a 16,000-tonne donation of urea from the Algerian government.

The delivery will help the Kenyan government to meet its goal of distributing seven million bags of fertilizer to farmers during the long and short rains period this year.

Kenya, which is experiencing severe food insecurity, has been seeking to boost harvests and reduce the cost of living by providing subsidized fertilizer to farmers nationwide.

Algeria said it made the donation as part of its policy of fostering collaborating and promoting sustainable development across the African continent.
