# Shell to build gas-supply facility in Nigeria for Dangote Fertilizer

Shell's new facility will supply Africa's largest granulated urea fertilizer plant with 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

Shell’s Nigerian unit said on Sunday that it has decided to build a gas-supply facility to feed the Dangote Fertilizer and Petrochemical plant in Lekki, in Lagos State, local media reported.

The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria’s new facility will supply 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day from the Iseni field for a 10-year period.

According to reports, the company’s venture partners in the project are the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, TotalEnergies Nigeria, and the Nigeria Agip Oil Company.

The Dangote Fertilizer plant is the largest granulated urea fertilizer facility on the continent. It has an annual production capacity of three million tonnes and meets around 65% of Nigeria’s fertilizer demand.

Shell has not said when construction will start, or how much the project will cost.
