Syngenta said it was the only company in the agricultural sector to have received recognition from the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Syngenta announced on Thursday that its manufacturing facility in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, has been recognized as a top user of green power by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The ag-tech company said that it is the only business in the agricultural sector to have been included on the EPA’s latest Green Power Partnership list of the top 100 national users of green power.

Syngenta said it is proud that its decarbonization efforts have been recognized, and stressed that the implementation of its global strategy for sourcing renewable electricity is well underway.

It noted that the St. Gabriel site, one of its global manufacturing centers of excellence, consumes more than 150 million kWh of energy annually, which is as much as 14,000 American homes.

Impressively, however, the facility sources 100 percent of its electrical energy from renewable sources such as wind and solar – fully offsetting its electricity consumption from fossil fuel-based sources.
