# UHB adds big bag production line to Samarkand NPK plant

Publication Date: 14.02.2024, 16:00

Lithuania’s UHB has said it will begin producing polypropylene fabric and big bags at its NPK plant in Uzbekistan's second city.

Lithuania’s UHB has announced that it is strengthening the capacity of its NPK plant in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, with the acquisition of equipment for the production of both polypropylene fabric and big bags.

The company said that since fertilizer production at the facility is growing, and the raw materials it needs are readily available, it was a straightforward decision to launch the new production line, which it described as being ‘like a factory within a factory’.

UHB said that around 100 local workers will be employed on the line, adding that they will be assisted by specialists from Lithuania.

The company noted that the new production line – which will be capable of producing 400,000 units per month – should be operating at full capacity within six months.

UHB estimates that 10% of these big bags will be used by UHB group companies, 40% will be sold in Uzbekistan, and the remaining 50% will be sold to industrial companies in the European Union.
