OCP has been sharing its deep expertise in phosphate and soil health at a UN environmental forum in Nairobi.

The OCP Group has taken the opportunity at the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA6), which is currently taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, to demonstrate its longstanding commitment to soil health and sustainable agriculture. This year’s assembly is focusing on climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss, and land degradation.

The company has made substantial investments in research and innovation, proffering a range of solutions to these pressing global challenges. It said its efforts have led to the analysis of 50 million hectares of agricultural land in Africa, the creation of over 40 customized fertilizer formulas tailored to specific soil needs, and the training of more than 270,000 farmers in eco-responsible agronomic practices. Additionally, the group has been working to improve farmers’ access to finance and markets for their crops.

The OCP Group also emphasized its sustainability goals, including achieving 100% use of unconventional water sources this year, transitioning to 100% renewable energy by 2027, attaining self-sufficiency in green ammonia by 2032, and reaching carbon neutrality by 2040. These ambitions reflect the OCP Group’s dedication to credibility and authenticity in its environmental stewardship.
