# PhosAgro boosts granular ammonium sulfate production at Balakovo

PhosAgro's Balakovo complex in Saratov Oblast is now capable of producing 360,000 tonnes of granular ammonium sulfate per year.

Russia’s PhosAgro has increased the capacity for granular ammonium sulfate production at its Balakovo complex in the Saratov region to 360,000 tonnes per year.

The company said in a press release that it has used the best available technologies during the second stage of development, which cost 4.85 billion rubles ($52.9mn).

The facility’s director, Sergei Lobanov, commented that “Granular ammonium sulfate is a unique product demanded by farmers in PhosAgro’s priority domestic market and by growers in other countries.

“To increase its production volumes, new technological equipment was installed on existing lines; a finished product warehouse with a capacity of 4,700 tonnes and a phosphoric acid warehouse were also built.”

PhosAgro intends to further expand the range of products it manufactures at Balakovo, noting that its third stage of development will provide for an increase in the gross output of mineral fertilizers and flexible production of MAP, DAP, NPK, and NPS.

The company expects that by 2026 the complex will be producing one million tonnes of complex NPK fertilizers and more than 500,000 tonnes of DAP per year.
