# Pivot Bio ranked as one of World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies

Fast Company has applauded Pivot Bio for helping farmers to increase their income while reducing emissions.

Pivot Bio, a developer of microbial crop-nutrition technologies that deliver nitrogen from the air directly to plants’ roots, and thus reduce farmers’ reliance on nitrogen fertilizer, has welcomed its inclusion on Fast Company’s 2024 list of the World’s 50 Most innovative Companies, on which it secured 47th place.

The company, which also ranked second in the sustainability category, said that this was the fourth time it has received industry recognition in recent months, adding that it has now featured three times on the Fast Company list. Pivot Bio noted that in 2023 it clinched a place on CNBC’s Disruptor 50 list, was a finalist for Reuter’s Responsible Business’s Product Innovation award, and, for a second time, was included on TIME’s list of Best Inventions.

Its CEO, Chris Abbott, commented that “We are honored to once again be recognized for the role our products and our people are playing in the continued evolution of agriculture. . . . More and more farmers are embracing microbial nitrogen, which offers a paradigm-shifting alternative for farmers, and we are encouraged and grateful that organizations such as TIME and Fast Company have recognized the pivotal role that we are playing.”

Pivot Bio said its products, which generate 2% of the emissions of synthetic fertilizer and are manufactured using 1,000 less water, are now used across five million acres in the US. It added that last year, for the first time, corn farmers could plant their seeds with up to 25% of their nitrogen needs already provided for by its technology.
