# EuroChem breaks ground on new processing plant at Usolskiy Potash Complex

The new facility, which will be built over the next three years, will allow EuroChem to increase its total production capacity of potassium chloride to 4.7 million tons per year.

EuroChem, one of Russia’s largest potash fertilizer producers, has announced the commencement of construction for a new flotation processing plant at its Usolskiy Potash Complex. This strategic investment aims to increase the company’s overall output and strengthen its position in the global market. The company plans to build the second phase of the flotation processing plant within the next three years, enabling it to increase its total potassium chloride (KCl) production capacity to 4.7 million tons per year.

Analysts highlight that the new production facility at the Usolskiy Potash Complex is poised to become one of the most cost-efficient operations in the industry, thanks to the availability of its own raw material base and optimized production processes. This competitive advantage will allow EuroChem to solidify its position in international markets.

“The expansion of the Usolskiy Potash Complex’s capabilities will enable the company to be more competitive in the Russian and CIS markets, while also driving growth in its sales to overseas countries, particularly India, China, Brazil, and African nations where potash salt deposits are either unexploited, absent, or have insignificant production volumes,” commented Leonid Khazanov, an industrial expert and candidate of economic sciences.

The potassium chloride produced at the complex is widely used as an effective water-soluble fertilizer, in the production of complex granulated fertilizers, and in various other industrial applications.

Currently, EuroChem is actively developing three sections of the Verkhnekamskoye potash and magnesium salt deposit. As of early 2024, the company’s stated sylvinite reserves in these areas amount to approximately 2.09 billion tons, creating substantial potential for further enterprise development and production expansion.
