New facility to boost low-carbon ammonia production in Saudi Arabia.

SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company has obtained approval from the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Energy to allocate the necessary feedstock for its upcoming blue (low carbon) ammonia plant in Jubail Industrial City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The plant will be the company’s sixth facility and is projected to have an annual production capacity of 1.2 million metric tonnes (MMTA) of blue ammonia and 1.1 MMTA of urea and specialized agri-nutrients.

SABIC Agri-Nutrients plans to conduct engineering studies to assess and select the most efficient technologies for energy and feedstock utilization. This strategic move aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in the agricultural sector.

Established in 1965 as Saudi Arabian Fertilizer Company (SAFCO), SABIC Agri-Nutrients is now a major global chemical producer with an annual fertilizer output exceeding 4.9 million tonnes.

SABIC owns 42.99% of SABIC Agri-Nutrients, while 57.01% is held by private sector entities and the public. The company is a leading exporter of various fertilizers, including urea, ammonia, MAP, DAP, and phosphate-based products, serving a global market with a comprehensive range of nitrogen-based inorganic products and specialty solutions.
